Archipelago Brijuni

Album: National Parks, Region: Istria

Both archipelago and the surrounding sea are under protection. The Brijuni Archipelago is known for its preserved Mediterranean vegetation, which is partly landscape and partly a safari park. Croatia have 472 sq km of national park on land and 224 km that compose the Kornati Islands. Risnjak National Park south of Zagreb is the most untouched forested park, partly because the climate at its higher altitudes is somewhat inhospitable - an average temperature of 12. Istria is the largest peninsula in the Adriatic Sea.
