Album: Rovinj, Region: Istria
The Romans swept into Istria in the 3rd century BC and, after fierce resistance, managed to subdue the region in the 2nd century BC. After the conquest, the Romans began building roads and fortified towns. Rovinj, a picturesque Istrian town is an oasis of beautiful nature and exceptionally agreeable climate. The old town of Rovinj is entirely contained within an egg-shaped peninsula, with the bus station just to the south-east. Istria is the largest peninsula in the Adriatic Sea.
